From seed to harvest, the journey of coffee beans requires expertise, patience, and optimal growing conditions.
The journey begins with carefully selected seeds planted in nurseries. After 6-8 months, the young plants are transferred to the main fields where they'll grow for 3-4 years before producing their first harvest. We practice sustainable farming methods to ensure soil health and biodiversity.
Our meticulous cultivation process ensures the highest quality beans with distinctive flavor profiles.
Coffee plants produce fragrant white blossoms that eventually develop into coffee cherries. The transformation from flower to ripe cherry takes approximately 9 months. Each plant is carefully monitored during this crucial phase.
Our beans are hand-picked at peak ripeness, with harvesters selecting only the perfectly ripe cherries. This labor-intensive process ensures only the finest cherries are chosen, resulting in superior coffee quality.
After harvesting, cherries undergo either wet or dry processing to remove the fruit and reveal the beans. The beans are then carefully dried to achieve the optimal moisture content before being prepared for roasting.
We believe in responsible farming practices that protect both the environment and our community.
At Café SAFI, we believe quality coffee begins with responsible cultivation.
We focus on shade-grown coffee cultivation, which preserves forest canopies and provides habitat for birds and other wildlife. This method also results in slower-growing coffee with more complex flavors.
